Objectives of the Observatory

The 5G & Connected Digital Industry Observatory aims to be the point of reference for the TLC ecosystem and all industries, to outline various connectivity scenarios and possible future evolutions.

5G & Beyond Observatory Research

As part of the annual edition of Research, the 5G & Connected Digital Industry Observatory of Politecnico di Milano aims to:

analyze the digital connectivity services ecosystem at international level;
analyze and study potential evolution scenarios of the telecommunications European ecosystem;
develop a framework that can map different strategic alternatives based on different connectivity solutions;
define the strategic expertise needed to set a roadmap toward a corporate connectivity strategy;
update the estimate of the current 5G industrial market size in Italy;
monitor the various to 5G related technology trends and future developments (e.g., 6G);
identify the various connectivity solutions used in industrial automation and analyze developments (e.g., 5G devices and use cases).

Activities

The Edition of the 5G & Connected Digital Industry Observatory includes five closed-door Workshops dedicated to the Partner and Sponsor community, the closing Conference and two technical webinars. Events will include:

a kick-off workshopaimed at sharing the objectives and direction of Research activities;
Three interactive workshops to:
- analyze the value architecture of the TLC ecosystem (related to the RESTART project) e and introduce the concept of a platform as a model for developing innovative business services;
- develop a model to understand how to adopt a connectivity logic, in which connectivity is an integral part of the business strategy for the digital transformation process;
- facilitate the match between supply and demand connectivity solutions to highlight current issues and find the “market fit” for proper alignment of the value proposition with the actual needs of demand businesses.
A traditional workshop where the first research results related to the progress of 5G technology development in the industrial field will be exhibited with a survey of European cases, an estimate of Italian spending on 5G MPN projects and an analysis of the main technology updates. In addition, the topic of industrial automation and its integration with main connectivity solutions will also be explored in depth.
Two technical webinars with distinguished guests on topics related to AI and security in networks and satellite telecommunications.
A closing workshop to present 5G Research activity results with round tables and keynote addresses by the leading personalities of the telecommunications sector.
