The methodology used in this Report
The research was conducted by the Cloud Ecosystem & Sovereignty Observatory in collaboration with the Center for Digital Envisioning (C4DE) following a structured, multi-stage process. During the initial intelligence phase, 49 trends (43 strong and 6 weak) were identified through the analysis of start-ups, patents, academic papers, financial reports and industry articles. The trends were subsequently aggregated into 8 megatrends through an iterative co-creation process within the research team. Two co-creation sessions with a panel of 15 experts enabled the validation of both the megatrends and the 5 future scenarios, ensuring consistency and relevance. The scenarios, constructed by considering varying degrees of realisation of the megatrends and the impact of potential wild cards, cover a 10-year time horizon with a European perspective. Finally, the process includes cross-technological integration with other observatories (AI, Quantum, Data Centres, Cybersecurity) and a commitment to the continuous monitoring of the technological and market landscape.
