The methodology used in this Report
Through desk research and the use of news sources, business cases, reports and international databases, the Smart AgriFood Observatory identified 131 AI application projects in the agrifood sector. For each project, registry variables, actors involved, supply chain stages affected, application areas and AI solution categories used were collected. Furthermore, using specialised databases, 1,362 startups active in the smart agrifood sector were mapped at a global level. Finally, the Observatory designed and distributed three distinct questionnaires: one addressed to farms, one to food processing companies, and one to Agriculture 4.0 solution providers.
