Observatory Goals
The Digital for Kids & Teens Observatory was created to develop and spread knowledge about how minors use digital technologies. The main objective is to understand the dynamics of digital technology use by underage people, identify the associated risks and opportunities, and provide a knowledge base to support families, schools, businesses, and institutions in designing effective and responsible initiatives.
Digital for Kids & Teens, Observatory Research
Within the annual Research edition, the Digital For Kids & Teens Observatory examines the following topics in depth:
- In-depth analysis of the level of awareness of the possible risks and opportunities associated with the use of digital technology by minors among reference adults, investigating skills and mapping the various initiatives developed by players on this matter
- Analyze how some technology trends (e.g. Artificial Intelligence, Extended Reality, Cybersecurity) and digital technology can be applied to support educational processes (EdTech) and free time.
- Map startups providing innovative digital solutions and services targeted to minors, or for their protection
- Evaluate sociological, ethical, and health impacts – physical and mental— of underage digital technology use.
