Objectives of the Observatory

Established in 2023, the Digital & Sustainable Observatory aims to develop and spread awareness about sustainability opportunities and risks related to the adoption/use of digital technology/solutions through research based on solid empirical evidence and independent areas for comparison.

Digital & Sustainable, Observatory Research

Now in its first edition, the Digital & Sustainable Observatory conducts Research in various fields to analyze the bi-directional relationship between digital transformation and sustainability (social, environmental, governance) through robust empirical research methodologies. In particular, it aims to:

identify and map initiatives and best practices in which digital generates an impact on sustainability goals;
conduct a qualitative and/or quantitative assessment of the impact of specific technology trends in terms of sustainability (e.g. AI, Data Center, Blockchain, etc…), by collaborating synergistically with qualified Observatories;
identify and map sustainable initiatives driving or impacting digital adoption in Italy;
identify, categorize and analyze key KPIs and data analytics useful for measuring sustainability impacts;
analyze the context of reference and economic, political and social trends that may influence sustainability and digital choices (e.g., regulatory updates);
analyze and categorize the different organizational configurations that enable to manage the sustainability-digital relationship within companies, also at a cultural level;
survey global startups operating in the digital and sustainability fields and identify key directions of market innovation.

Activities

Digital & Sustainable, Observatory activities

The events planned for the first edition of the Digital & Sustainable Observatory are as follows:

a Research setup Kickoff meeting with companies interested in actively participating in the Digital & Sustainable Observatory;
a launch event, open and public, to present the framework for analyzing the digital-sustainability combination;
two cross research workshops reserved for the Digital & Sustainable Observatory Partner community, to report on, validate, and compare research results;
two vertical research workshops reserved for the Digital & Sustainable Observatory Partner community to look into the relationship between some specific areas of digital innovation (e.g., technology trends) and sustainability with the involvement of the competent Observatories;
a Digital & Sustainable Experience sharing event dedicated to the Observatory community, in which to stimulate networking and deliberation through concrete experiences and involvement of experts;
a public conference to present Research activity results, with roundtable discussions and speeches by key players in the Digital & Sustainable field.

Digital & Sustainable, Observatory content

In the course of its first edition, the Digital & Sustainable Observatory will deliver the following contents:

a report in digital format presented at the final conference containing a summary of Research findings;
in-depth online infographics on the topics covered in Research;
a bimonthly press review for Observatory Partners, with the most significant national and international news in the digital and sustainability fields;
an editorial plan posted on LinkedIn to actively engage with Observatory Partners.
