IMAGINING DISTANT FUTURES: Human Wellbeing in the Era of Intelligent Technologies (2035)

The FUTURES | Sense Making by System Thinking Observatory aims at experimenting and promoting innovative approaches in designing Futures. In highly volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous contexts existing in modern society leaders, innovators, and organizations are required to design desirable futures responsibly and proactively, as opposed to adapting and reacting to emerging futures after they have been defined. The Convention of the first edition 2023/24 focuses on the «Human Wellbeing in the Era of Intelligent Technologies» topic in order to share both methodologies and results about the Distand Futures identified in three domains: Purposeful Nest, Meaningful Production and Relational Proximity.

The Convention of the first edition 2023/24 explores the following questions:

- How to enhance the skills of individual leaders and innovators and organizational abilities in imagining and developing «distant» futures?
- How to identify and interpret «weak» signals of potential change?
- How to stimulate a critical and reflective attitude in designing «desirable and meaningful» future scenarios?
- How will people take care of their personal wellbeing in an era characterized by intelligent technologies?
- How will people give meaning to their work experience in a society characterized by intelligent technologies?
- How will people take care of their interpersonal relationships in an era characterized by intelligent technologies?
