Life Science Innovation
The opportunities and challenges associated with the main trends in digital innovation for players in the Life Sciences ecosystem, analyzed based on research data from the Life Science Innovation Observatory of the Politecnico di Milano.
Objectives of the Observatory
Now in its fifth year of research, the Life Science Innovation Observatory aims to analyze and promote innovation, including that based on digital technologies, in clinical research, customer engagement and the development of new products and services in the Life Sciences.
Life Science Observatory Research
The Life Science Innovation Observatory conducts the following research activities as part of its annual program
- analyze the impact of key innovation trends (e.g. Artificial Intelligence), on the research on drug and medical device research and development processes, exploring the challenges and opportunities in Europe.
- Explore the contribution of digital biomarkers, sensors, and artificial intelligence in diagnosis and clinical trial conduct.
- explore possible applications of digital to improve customer engagement of healthcare professionals, identifying the most innovative technologies to support them (e.g. generative AI).
- assess the current state and prospects of Digital Therapy in Italy, analyzing the existing regulatory framework, the expected impacts, the benefits and barriers to their implementation.
- define a maturity model for the development of digital in pharmaceutical companies, identifying the skills and organizational models needed to promote the evolution of digital evolution within the company.
