Data-driven sustainable agri-food value chains
Project Description
Agri-food value chains include many interlinked challenges which jeopardise their sustainability, including productivity pressures, environmental and social pressures, and skewed chain power. Data-driven technological advances have contributed to the growth of agricultural production, but can also have negative effects. Ploutos brings together farmers, food industry companies, scientists, ICT specialists and policymakers to ensure that the value chain meets societal and environmental demands. The project develops a Sustainable Innovation Framework based on behavioural innovation, sustainable collaborative business model innovation and data-driven technology innovation. Innovations are validated in Sustainable Innovation Pilots across 13 countries, covering a range of agri-food ecosystems.
Our Role
Within the Ploutos project, we support the coordination of WP1, playing a central role in the design, development, consolidation, and validation of the Sustainable Innovation Framework (SIF). In addition, we actively contribute to the identification, classification, and initial assessment of innovative solutions within the agri-food value chain through the application of the SIF. Our involvement also includes the exploration and development of sustainable collaborative business models, thereby supporting the overall objective of fostering systemic innovation and sustainability in the sector.
