Objectives of the Observatory

The Intelligent Business Process Automation Observatory stems for the experience of the Artificial Intelligence Observatory. It aims to highlight the strategic value that Artificial Intelligence technologies provide to business process automation, emphasizing the potential benefits regarding competitiveness, profitability, promptness, and increased effectiveness in decision-making contexts. In particular the project aims to establish a permanent point of reference for decision makers to leverage the innovation potential where Robotic Process Automation and Artificial Intelligence solutions converge.

Intelligent Business Process Automation Observatory Research

As part of the Research, the Observatory aims to aims to photograph and understand the status quo of Intelligent Business Process Automation in Italy. In particular, it aims to:

critically and pre-competitively survey and analyze the technology offering, identifying current technology evolutionary trends;
estimate the spread of initiatives in this area in large Italian organizations and identify the benefits arising from these initiatives;
identify successful use cases in various business processes;
look into and create awareness on the variables that negatively or positively influence such adoption (e.g., process discovery methodologies, project development methodologies, organizational choices, dedicated skills management, reusability of developed services).

Advisory Board

To foster continuous dialogue and steer the Research toward the trends that generate the greatest value for companies, the Intelligent Business Process Automation Observatory has formed a select steering group composed of prominent professionals from the Process Intelligence and Automation field, representing major international organizations across leading industry sectors.

Activities

Activities planned by the Observatory as part of the annual Intelligent Business Process Automation Research include:

One or more surveys conducted on large Italian and European companies involving IT managers, and automation managers to monitor the spread of such technologies at national level.
An analysis of solutions provided in this sector and the integration with other Digital Technologies.
Detailed demand and supply company case studies to identify methodologies and best practices for the adoption of intelligent digital automation solutions and establish dedicated competence centers within companies.
Events
Events organized for the edition of the Observatory are:
A Kick Off event open to the public, aimed at presenting the activity and strands of the Research with the interested companies.
Two online Inspirational Sessions reserved for supporters of Observatory activities; the first is dedicated to the presentation of the Research study on technology evolution and startups in Process Intelligence and Automation, whereas at the second event use cases are presented by the Advisory Board.
Three in-person Workshops reserved for activity supporters, dedicated to examining in depth some of the Research topics indicated, with the active contribution of initiative supporters, and possibly external testimonials.
An exclusive dinner with the AI Observatory community on Agentic Automation topics and foresight issues related to Artificial Intelligence.
A closing in-person and online conference open to the public, aimed at presenting key research findings to be discussed with representatives of institutions, international practitioners, and initiative supporters.
Content
The Observatory will generate the following content:
A digital report including the main results from the Observatory’s Research activities, released at the closing conference event.
A survey of the solution offering based on the analysis of the leading market players (content reserved for supporters).
In-depth reports on the status quo of technology and on application mapping of Intelligent Process Automation at the enterprise level (content dedicated to supporters).
