The global shift to eInvoicing
What you will learn
This White Paper explains the current state of play as we experience a major global shift to eInvoicing across the world. The paper is the product of cooperation between the eInvoicing Observatory of the Politecnico di Milano, an established and well-recognized source of expertise, and the Global Interoperability Forum, a group of senior practitioners drawn from leading industry organizations focused on delivering an interoperable ecosystem.
Table of Contents
- 1The global eInvoicing landscape
- 2Einvoicing models: the path to implementation
- 3Selecting an eInvoicing model: impacts and benefits across the ecosystem
- 4Interoperability definitions and practical applications
- 5Unlocking opportunities in eInvoicing innovation
You will know how to answer these key questions
- What are the key global trends, drivers, and regional dynamics shaping the current eInvoicing landscape?
- What are the main eInvoicing and eReporting models in use worldwide, and how do they compare in terms of benefits and implementation contexts?
- How should policymakers choose the most suitable eInvoicing model for their country, and what benefits can different stakeholders expect?
- What does interoperability mean in practice, and which initiatives, frameworks, and agreements are shaping its development at the global level?
- Which emerging technologies and innovations are transforming eInvoicing, and how will they drive future digital transformation?
The methodology used in this Report
The methodology of the Observatory followed a structured and multi-step approach, combining both secondary and primary research. It began with an extensive desk analysis of international legislation and standards, later validated through consultations with local experts and institutions to ensure accuracy. The Observatory conducted interviews with key ecosystem players and a survey on digitization outcomes across a representative sample of companies. Finally, innovation was analyzed through the examination of over 200 startups and a futher survey to nearly 80 international service providers, highlighting how regulatory mandates are influencing the evolution of P2P and O2C services.
